Riddles

This runs but does not walk.
It has a mouth but never speaks.
It has a head but never weeps.
It has a bed but nevers sleeps.

River

Never a day passes over the earth
Without a death or without a birth;
Never a day but a change takes place.
And full of change is this mortal race.
The seasons come, and the seasons go, the wild wind raves, and the rivers flow;
The trees are green, and the trees are bare;
All, all is change: thus from year to year.
The world rolls on in its wondrous way, and the wild waves leap, and the wild waves play.
Yet ever above, in most curious forms, we woo the sun and obey the storms.

Clouds

Formed long ago, yet made today
And most employed when others sleep;
What few would like to give away,
And fewer still to keep.

Bed

There’s a word composed of three letters alone,
Which reads backwards and forwards the same;
It expresses the sentiments warm from the heart,
And to beauty lays principal claim.
