Clandestine Dream

Reality and fantasy intertwine their delicate tendrils
together as the incandescent glow of desire illuminate
the hourglass apparition in the distant corner office, her
presence tantalizingly close yet perpetually out of reach,
a mirage shimmering on the horizon of my mind.

My eyes trace her outline, eliciting the memory of her soft
breath whispering wild confessions. I suck my breath in;
shivers cascade down the contours of my spine; her words,
honeyed and intoxicating, linger like an overripe passion fruit
drenching my thirsty grateful soul.

We had meandered together, lost in our illicit affair, letting
reality and fantasy blur in a fog of insignificance. And as
dawn breaks, the loud bang of the front door jolts me awake;
an irrefutable testament to the power of procrastination,
even in the realm of dreams.
